WOYWW 603

Good morning all ... I am mightily impressed with myself that despite these chaotic times (Covid, Brexit and Christmas) that I have remembered to join in our weekly desk hop around the globe.  If you want to take part and snoop around some workspaces then head on over to The Stamping Ground.

Since last week, Father Christmas arrived early with quite a delivery from Lavinia Stamps, courtesy of Mr M.

So I was busy making cards for my daughters yesterday.  They are still on my desk, as I took a pic of them for FB group.  Just at the right of the picture are some gift tags I had to make as I realised I don't have any!  My work laptop has been put away till next week, so plenty of room for crafting.

The cards are quite sparkly - Daughter and sentiment embossed in midnight blue - it just doesn't show up too well on the photos.

My side desk is quite a mess - it's been used as a dumping ground.  Top left is a journal- just in case I manage to start using one in 2021!!  Then my paper trimmer, my box of embossing powders, balanced on top of some stencils.  A box of typewriter alphabet stamps- just in case I manage to start a journal in 2021!!  There are 3 cards for my grandchildren- I just need to colour in the gnomes.  The Lavinia goodies just arrived this morning- this was everything I forgot to order on the main order!

I wish you all the very best for Christmas, and I will do my visiting today and finish off tomorrow - inbetween making another stollen cake, mince pies, wrapping presents, and crocheting.  Oooh I suppose I had better make Mr M a card too!!

Stay safe and well, Heather xx

What lovely cards, Heather - I love a monochrome look, which is so sophisticated and stylish. - and my goodness, what a lovely lot of stamps to play with! You are going to have so much fun with those in the coming months. You sound mega busy but then for most people, that's what this time of year tends to bring, isn't it. Christmas for us is pretty much a non-event these days although we usually meet up with my hubby's family sometime during the season (not possible this year).

Thank you for your visit last week. I'm very behind I'm afraid. I'm also mega busy but mostly with cooking, and trying to get my hubby's kitty throw finished! I'm glad you are enjoying your crochet so much - it's a shame to discover it so late in life but you can make up for lost time! My grandmother taught me when I was little and I've always done it and loved it. I've always been creative but never in a terribly organised way, but like you after your operation, when I got ME I spent a lot of time on the laptop and discovered the whole online art/crafts world and something clicked and since then I've never looked back! Before I got ill I didn't really have much time for it, but every cloud has a silver lining (a massive one for me in this case) and I find it deeply satisfying and therapeutic as well, to be creative. As for WOYWW it's the most fabulous place to get inspiration and it always seems to be the cure for a mojo that's gone walkabout!

Following a crochet pattern is not difficult, once you learn what the abbreviations mean. There are also lots of crochet-along-with-me videos on Youtube that help with this because you can follow the pattern and play and pause the video as you like. I'm doing this with the kitty paw pattern. The video is in Japanese but that doesn't matter!! She goes very slowly and the camera is really close so you can see absolutely everything. I still can't follow a crochet pattern if it's in the form of a chart, and only follow the written ones, but I should really learn because it's another string to one's bow, and some patterns are only available in that format.

Have a great Christmas, and happy WOYWW,

Hi I'm here at last. It's been a busy day as the washing machine is feeling poorly and the second guy has been out to try and fix it and we think he has now found the problem but can't complete the job until the new year. Following his visit we went to pick up the Christmas order from the supermarket. You lucky lady! all those gorgeous stamps. The cards are so stylish too. Thank you for the lovely comment over at mine, you're so kind. Take care my friend and wishing you a happy Christmas. Hugs, Angela x10x

Those are absolutely gorgeous cards Heather and what a wonderful collection of stamps! How did Mr M know what to get you? My husband's gift to me is that he's letting me spend MY money on craft supplies - I wouldn't want him to buy me craft stuff anyway because he would find out how much it all costs LOL - he's still blissfully unaware! Wishing you and your family a lovely Christmas! xx zsuzsa #21

I was so impressed with the cards your made for the girls - they are lovely. What a fabulous LOT of Lavinia stamps hubby bought for you. Did you have a list?
We must do a Facetime/Zoom session soon and there are two others who would love to join us and I am sure you will be happy for it to be the four of us. Can you think of a time or two that would suit you so I can round up the others please?
Life will never be the same again - at the mere mention of the word "cherries" my blood pressure blows! Don't think I will ever be the same and heaven help anyone who hands me a drink with a 'cherry' (grimace) in it.
Here's to a Wonderful and Very Happy Christmas to you and yours - and above all, Stay Safe and Well
Lots of Love, Neet 8 xx

Thank you for your visit, Heather, and for all your kind comments! I'm glad you liked my outfit, and I say YES to getting rid of the boring office garb and branching out and having some fun with clothes again!! Go for it, girl! And please post photos! I'm glad you're enjoying your crochet - quite a lot of us seem to be at it these days. I've found some superb crochet videos on YouTube and after 60 years of crocheting, I am still learning! Kitties always enjoy a good box, don't they. You can spend a lot on expensive toys and they turn their noses up at them, but happily jump in a box! I'm like you - I don't have anyone to craft with but I really enjoy doing it on my own, so that's fine. It is very absorbing, and I find myself relaxing after spending a session rushing around in the kitchen preparing food!

I hope you had a good Christmas. Ours was mega-quiet - just us 2 and the kitties.
