WOYWW 624

Happy 12th Anniversary to Julia and all the deskers!  I'm sorry not to be taking part in the ATC swap/celebrations - but main thing is, I am here!  Many, many congratulations to our head desker for keeping this blog alive and well for so many years, and to Jan for aiding and abetting when required.  Head on over to The Stamping Ground if you want to join  in the fun!

My side desk has Brushos left out after a play; 4 boxes of Tombow watercolour pens that I had to buy as a) they were on a 3 for 2 offer, plus I had 15% off voucher code and b) I have seen them on many of Shoshi's blog posts and liked the results.

My new Alice stamps - can't wait to play with them!  Plus some photo frames I saw in a charity shop window, and decided they would look good on the wall in my craft room to make it look 3D ... watch this space.

My main desk looks a little bare as I am in the office for a few days this week, as I have another new starter in my team.  Normally laptop, notebooks, calculator and a cup of coffee would be covering this desk.

The view shows most of my crafty stuff that needs packing away, plus some shelves out of view, before I start decorating.  I do still need to work in the room or I could just go to the office whilst I decorate in the evenings.

Another finished blanket.  I'm going to make another in lemon - I really love the 1960s style patterns!

I've yet to tackle a blanket with 2 colours (apart from my rainbow Jan Blan which was just rows in different colours), but I've a feeling it won't be long.  I'd like to do white with a pink or blue border.

Answer for Angela from last week - I use double knit for all my crocheting.  I vary the crochet hook to make it more 'delicate'.

I hope you all have a lovely week.  I'll be round to visit after work, but it might be a day or two, as I have a couple of work projects I am working on.  Take care, Heather xx

Oooh, lovely goodies! Those photo frames will look great on your wall - I love charity shops, but you have to find one that doesn't try to rip you off - some of them are clearly overpriced and I'm thinking it probably goes towards the inflated salaries of their CEOs! Those frames look great value though! Delightful little baby blanket and it will look lovely in lemon too. I've sent you an ATC, but please don't feel you have to send one back - I know you're busy with work an everything! Happy anniversary! xx zsuzsa #17

Happy 12th WOYWW! It’s been fun to get to know you via the desks and Crops, you always have something interesting on the go. Great bargain with the frames and I have to admit that I have a sneaky love of vintage patterns too, they remind me of my mum xx. I’m crocheting another JanBaln soon for the charity Crochet for Kidneys, they’re going to the renal nurses this time!

I love your 1960's style blankets, they really are beautiful and having grown up through that era they evoke memories of happy childhood times. The frames are great finds - I've missed a good rummage through charity shops during the pandemic!

The blanket is just sweet as can be and the Alice stamps look quite cute. I, too, haunt the charity shops for frames LOL! Aren't we a funny lot?

Happy 12th Anniversary to all my desk-hopping mates!

Oh I do love that pattern on the blanket. It doesn't look like it came from the 1960s at all! Enjoy the playtime with the brushos - it's one supply I've managed to avoid purchasing so far! Anyway, happy anniversary! Lisa-Jane, #2

Ooh I have LOADS of brushos - I had a few, asked for some at Christmas and my son managed to ordre them twice and was too lazy to return one. I must sell one box, I'll never finish them both. Cute stamps too. Lovely to see you, hope your week is not too busy, Happy Anniversary, love n hugs, Cindy #17 xx

Heather, you are just the sweetest! Thank you so much for stopping by my desk and leaving your lovely comment! I agree with you, we need WAY MORE joy in our lives right now and yes the wedding filled the bill!! Thanks as well with your comment on my photo.....we WERE so happy in those photos!!! Camping is "our" element and we are all very close!! I don't know what I would do without my sisters!!! Your "crop gathering" in my tent had me giggling! My boss actually gave me that 10 man tent last year for Christmas! He knows me like a book! LOL All that gorgeous enabling on your post today.....ugghh!!! Makes me want to go shopping!! Those Alice stamps look tooooo cute!!! I love your desk set up, everything in it's place, which is more than I can say for mine! LOL Your blanket looks beautiful and I know what you mean by "multicolor" non use! I don't crochet, I knit and have yet to step out past one color! I think I knit in fear! LOLOL I'm self-taught, so that is part of the problem. I think if I had someone to lean on, it might go differently, but alas, I don't so one color it is!!! Thank you so much for stopping by my desk and as you said, for the friendship and lovely comments! Many blessings to you! Felicia #34

Lots going on there, Heather, and your blanket looks beautiful. Thank you for your comment last week - if you hop over now, you can see the finished kitty throw, which my hubby is absolutely thrilled with. After Ruby had attacked one of the kitty tails, neither of them has shown any further signs of trying to destroy it, fortunately - they have both adopted it and love sitting on it! The video for the border is brilliant - very clear and easy to follow. I found it much easier to follow the video than the written pattern which was pretty complicated. I've nearly completed the first motif for the Persian Tiles throw - it's coming out much bigger than I expected and will be quite bold when finished, I think. Thank you for your good wishes for my hospital appointment, and especially for your prayers which are much appreciated - the appointment is now postponed to Monday. You are right, not worrying is quite calming - it's pointless getting in a state ahead of time because it does no good and just makes you feel worse all round! (I wish my hubby could learn this lesson - he's a terrible worrier, and a very skilled architect, designing magnificent castles in the air haha!) Regarding my pants, this lot came through with no problem, as did the last lot (over a year ago because of the lockdown last year) so I am hoping they've finally got their own knickers untwisted now. They are really good, and comfortable to wear, so I'm very pleased.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Just got your latest comment, Heather - thank you very much. Thanks again for your good wishes for my hospital appointment. I had to be a one-woman crochet machine in order to complete the kitty throw in time for my hubby's birthday! I was getting a bit anxious about it because I kept having to wait for him to be out or in bed before I could work on it and time was running out! Real small-hours stuff in the end... I'm glad you agree with me about the Persian Tiles pattern. I'm coming to the end of the first motif and so far so good - it's coming out bigger than I expected but no problem with that. I'm not 100% sure about the colour order and may change this. Decisions, decisions!

Happy belated WOYWW,

I love your syamps, had to enlarge the picture because at first I thought that was a gnome sitting on a toadstool, I have I thong about gnomes! I picked up a ;eaflet about Tombow pens only yesterday, they do look nice, but I still have my ProMarkers and The docrafts 'Whispers' in a case...and thats a bit dusty! Shame you're not in the swap but never mind, its still fun to see what you've been up to!

It really is the main thing Heather, that you’re there, and I’m really happy that you are, there is No WOYWW without you joining in when you can. Loving your blanket, I think you’ve really cracked crochet, talking about alternating hook sizes for different looks...I rather suspect that when you start on colour changing, you won’t be looking back. In fact, if you could master it before we next meet, I’ll take a lesson! There are a couple of very colourful patterns I want to attempt but my joining isn’t up to it. Your desk looks incredibly tidy and organised, I understand why but doesn’t stop me being impresssed. I like the idea of the frames to make the wall 3d, shall look forward to seeing that trick. We are starting wallpapering today, of course we are: our kid and her squeeze are coming home for the first time in ten months and the house is a tip!

Hello Heather ... thank you for popping by my blog last week and for your kind comments. I can explain the spanners!!! Due to my tummy troubles I find it hard to sit comfortably at the table so use a board with my craft mats on top and pull it forward off the edge of the table and can then work for hours ... but, of course, the moment I lean on it it topples forwards. The spanners were my daddy's and when hubby cleared out his garage I asked him to save me a couple of rusty spanners that I could alter. These are what he came home with but, as I can't even lift the large one, not much altering will be done! So, they make the perfect counter-balance for my board and it means I always have daddy right here with me.
I love your blanket ... I am not one to just sit and watch TV of an evening so took to making bobble blankets so can totally appreciate the amount of work in your beautiful creation. Take care, love Debbie xXx

I had to zoom in on the wizard in that frame - please tell me you're keeping him? If not, I'll happily adopt him from you!

And yes, there's nothing quite like a vintage knitting pattern, is there? Especially the baby ones, I mean - I wouldn't necessarily knit a man's tank top these days! Teehee!

Happy WOYWW 624 (bit late getting round!)
