WOYWW 490

Good morning all.  The weeks are flying by at the moment!  Time for WOYWW.  Photos taken last night, as I am on an early start this morning.  Thank you for the lovely birthday wishes.  My craft room has seen some action this week.  I unpacked, but have not yet used my sewing machine.  I'm still reading the instructions.  I visited a local fabric store and bought enough fabric for the 3 quilts I am going to make.  All washed and pressed and ready to cut!  Just need to decide on a pattern now.   So my side desk is currently home to my sewing machine, etc.

My lifesavers from last week were the paramedics who attended when I had a sudden cardiac arrest in February 2017.   It took a long while for me to be ready to meet them, and then took a few months to arrange.  I'm now fighting fit and keen to raise awareness and funds.  My employer is holding a fundraiser for Sudden Cardiac Arrest charity this week, as it is Sudden Cardiac Arrest awareness month.  When I nominated this charity I also volunteered to bring in some handmade cards to sell, so I've been sorting out a box full to take into work on a Friday.

And .... tada.... evidence of a wee bit of crafting!  I had bought another stamp and die set and just hoped the dies would be better fit to the stamps.  I am pleased to say they are (see above pic).  I also played about creating some backgrounds.  Might use some for more cards this week!   I used the harlequin stencil I made (Jan - it's a stencil that creates diamond shapes), and a couple of bought stencils, and some sprays, all good fun! There are also some flowers coloured in with promarkers, ready to be cut out.

That's all for me!  Desk hopping will continue when I get home from work.  I'm so happy you called by, please leave a comment so I can visit you too!  Have a lovely week Heather x

Well good for you Heather, continuing to support the charity that helped you. There are a number of Deskers who would happily contribute cards to causes like yours - do shout next time if you’d like to sell cards but dont h ave time to make a ton!

If only I had known about your charity I would have looked some cards up for you to sell. Thanks for explaining the photo last week, you were lucky to have such lovely people on hand and I am so glad you are feeling fit and well today.
Good luck with Friday.

Looks like you're all set to start making those quilts. I use machine so rarely that I always have to look up the threading video on YT - I always forget how to do it! Never mind winding the bobbins! What a lovely and worthwhile initiative to raise money for the charity. Frankly, I'm in awe of anyone who works in the emergency services. It must be a very demanding job, both physically and emotionally. Hope you have a good week and you continue to be fighting fit! zsuzsa #20

I have to admit that my five year old sewing machine is still sealed in its box, so I hope those quilts work well. Thank you for your visit and kind comments. Maggie #18 x

Hi Heather, those cards are lovely. You are so going to enjoy the new machine and I look forward to seeing the progress you make with it. I'm afraid that as yet I have no real plan for the eye stamps as I've had too many distractions recently but I will use them soon hopefully. Have a lovely creative week and happy woyww, Angela x11x

Well done, Heather, supporting the charity so marvellously - suffering these things really brings it home, doesn't it. I had a coronary artery spasm in 2014 and it was a very scary experience. With all my health problems, everyone at our local hospital has been absolutely tremendous and I can't thank them enough. What a wonderful opportunity to meet those paramedics who saved your life. I love all the pretty colourful things on your desk this week! All so decorative. Lovely fabrics too. I have to get the instructions out every time I use my sewing machine too - I still call it my new machine even though I got it in 2013! I don't use it very often.

Thank you for your visit - it's really frustrating about the pants. As for the meal out, glad my "altruistic" drinking of my hubby's wine raised a smile! We do have to look after them a bit, don't we, lol!

Take care and continue to be well!

Happy WOYOWW,

Gosh what a busy blog post - I hope you enjoy your new machine - I had mine for two years before I got round to reading the instructions - I really hate learning how to use a new piece of equipment! How wonderful to meet the paramedics who saved you, that must have been quite a meeting, and you are doing a great job with the cards.
I hope you have a great week,

Wow, glad recovery is going well and it must have been hard to meet up but fair play to you, and for continuing to support the charity, sounds like a great idea. though I am still reeling at the thought of making 3 quilts! I have only made 2 full size ones and I said never again! Such hard work!!!

Heather, you've been very busy! What a lot of cards! I'm glad the die cut flowers worked for you! I don't have a lot of experience with stamps matching or not matching die cuts, obviously you've had a few that don't quite match up? So nice that you can give back for something that was so important to saving your life, and now you can help save others. Good for you! Have a great week, thanks for your visit, and have a Spooooooky Halloween!Lindart #28
