WOYWW 568

Good morning all,

No excuse for missing last week, other than I got my days completely muddled up!  I hope everyone is staying safe and well, and best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those affected by Covid-19.

I have done some crafting - but not much.  Lack of space, although I realised if I tidied up my main desk, I would actually have a decent amount of worktop space.  So ... I thought maybe having all my stamps and dies in baskets is not such a good idea!  Exhibit A your honour:

I have two ways of storing dies and two ways of storing stamps (3 if you include my minimal wood stamp collection, which are in a box).  It's handy to grab what I need, just takes up a lot of space.

I have A4 plastic wallets in a large plastic box for large stamp sets, and A5 plastic wallets in smaller plastic boxes for dies, as well as the MDF tray storage for dies.

You can see the dies I have not yet put away on it, just to the right.  Also sneaking in on the pic is my new pink tape gun.  I gave in and treated myself.

My other stamps are in folders, right above my desk.  I had great fun doing all the covers.

I am tempted to put all my clear stamps in folders and get them all off  the desk.  I have even started an index - as I can never find the sentiment I know I have ... more of that next week.

The folder on the far right is labelled Die Cuts and is where I keep any extra die cuts, ready to colour in or add to a card or a layout.  If my mojo has deserted me, I can always cut out and colour in, whilst awaiting inspiration!

I think I like the organizing just as much as I like the crafting!   Am I alone in that, or does everyone get some pleasure out of organising?

Anyway on to the desk shots, which is why we are all here at WOYWW

Main desk is a mess.  No other words for it.  I did dump a lot of stuff on the floor so I could crack on with my daughter's  wedding invitation samples (fingers crossed it still goes ahead).  I love the little white die cut leaf - I received it in the last ATC exchange but don't know who from.  If anyone knows what the die is called, please let me know, as I think it is perfect for the invites!

Nic has now decided on a rose gold and dusky pink boho theme, so I'll order some more supplies before I make the next samples.  I'm having fun though, so can't complain.

Have a lovely week, stay safe and well, and keep crafting.  Please leave a comment so I know you stopped by, Heather xx

Glad to hear you are keeping well Heather. I like your stamp storage on the shelf above your desk and it may well be worth expanding it to fit your other stamps. I have many of mine stored in blank DVD cases with the spines labelled. I will be getting more when this is all over. Can't help with the leaf die sorry. Stay safe and happy WOYWW. Sarah #6

I think I have found my kindred spirit! You and I are a lot alike. I too struggle to find the right organization for my stamps, dies, and embossing folders. I love organizing too. I too have started an inventory of my stamps for the same reason sister! I have so many sentiments and never use them as I should because I forget I have them!! :) So I created a database in Excel that allows me to include an image of the stamp, create keywords for the stamp for easy searching, and even where I purchased the stamp. I have only scratched the surface putting the information in but I think it will help me use my stuff. So glad to meet someone like me. Have a blessed day and stay well.

I love the effects of the organising and having everything just where I want it. The one part of my organising that isnt sorted perfectly yet are my stamps - they are in boxes loosely grouped and it doesn't do them any good and I have to rummage through them to find what I want. I really need to think of an alternative at some point, but dont currently have the time. Happy WOYWW. Stay safe and take care. With love and God Bless, Caro x (#25)

my supplies are all over the place, not a lot of organisation here... too much of it is the main problem! anyway, enough of that, and take care and stay safe! Helen #2

Hi Heather, I think the little leaf might have been from me - I know I sent some die cuts out with my ATC's. If I'm right then it's from one of two sets - Tattered Lace 'Ferns' D590 or Tattered Lace 'Paradise Ferns' D667. Hope that is of some help to you. What you've done so far is looking very pretty and I do hope it all goes ahead - I'll be keeping fingers crossed for you.
Have a good week and stay safe and well,
Diana xx #12

Hope Diana has solved the problem with the die for you and that the wedding goes ahead. I can imagine the bride is more anxious than anyone so I sincerely hope she is not disappointed.
I am well impressed with the way you have decorated your boxes and I guess I used to lie organising as you say but now I detest it immensely but that is because I cannot do it like I used to. Old age and all that!
Take care, hope you are coping with this staying in and just keep well and safe.
Hugs, Neet 5 xx
ps I am in isolation for 12 weeks - only done 3 as my first 2 didn't count. I'll be in prison for such a long time. xx

Hi Heather. Those sample wedding stationary pieces are beautiful - now to try them out in a different colourway! Hope you find just the right solution for the rest of your organising.
Take care. Stay safe. God bless.

Hiya good to see you are well. I don't think there is an ideal storage system for stamps and dies although perhaps not owning so many would be a start! I also used to be able to remember everything I had but those days are gone, out of sight out of mind!! I am in the middle of wedding invites too for my son - yours look a lot more detailed. I have stopped for now. Planned for September but at the moment who knows? Stay well, stay safe, Happy WOYWW Cindy #18

Hi Heather, love those samples. I too store extra die cuts in the storage pockets. Almost all my stamps are in A4 Lever arch binders now, just far too many for any other system to work! Have a lovely week, Stay safe, Hugs, Shaz #11 X

Hi Heather no room to craft sounds familiar though I am actually tidy this week. I am very familiar with not being able to find the sentiment you know you've got but just can't think where it is. Often I just can't remember which make of stamp it is. I have started storing all the spare die cuts in a folder so that they are easier to find when I need them. Pleased to hear you're having fun and that's what counts. Take care and have a lovely belated woyww, Angela x17x

It’s one of my chief reasons for not being in love with clear stamps. Storage is a pig. Yes the wood mounts need room, but at least they aren’t inaccessible in packets and sleeves and hiding from me when I just want to cast my eye over what I’ve got...oh. Sorry. You set me off! Hope you get many miles of sticky pleasure from your ATG gun, I’ve had one for years and would be lost without it, it’s so convenient. And I like it when people ask me if it’s really a bit too cumbersome...invite them to pick it up, it is ridiculously light isn’t it, for its size! Wedding invitations and ideas, how wonderful, the colour scheme sounds lovely, something very positive to look forward to, for sure!

Glad to see you are well Heather, that's a lovely messy desk shot. I'm currently working between two desks and it's proving quite difficult I have to say. I really need to sort my sentiments too I spend far too many hours looking for the right one but for now that large paint brush calls.
Enjoy your creativity what ever your plans your a lot more organised than I think I will ever be.. Take care & stay very very safe Tracey #3 xx

I think I have to agree with you about storage organisation .... just after I was ill, I used to sit here and organise my 'stuff'. I seem to have acquired some space as well!!
I love your folders, may have to pinch your idea as my folders now look very boring!
Have a good, safe week

I loved reading about your organisation, Heather. You sound well on top of it! I am still struggling with mine, and need to put my mind to it again but I've been busy with other things lately. Thank you for your lovely comment - the umbrella is fun, isn't it! I am sure there must be a way of decorating your existing ones. It would be an interesting project. Another advantage of scanning and printing your original line drawings for later colouring, is that you can print them out any size you want, to suit your project. I tend to print things out too small! I am having fun with the various sets I've done recently (Celtic knots, mandalas and Florabunda) and have in mind to revamp some of my funky birds and cats to do, too! Today I printed out some sentiment strips that I made - I'll probably blog about that next week. Talking of the kitties blending with my hubby's jumper, when our old kitty Beatrice was still with us, she absolutely adored my hubby (it was mutual) and he had what we called his Beatrice jumper - they really became one when he wore that and cuddled her! Well done with the garden shed project. A great idea to raise your own plants - they can be very expensive from the garden centre. My hubby is also growing some seeds this year.

Have a great week, and happy belated WOYWW,

Oh I do love to see a good organiser - I just wish I was one of them! I am a bit late getting round the desks this week - been busy with my sewing for NHS - bags, hats and masks for community settings. All good fun, uses up some of my stash and keeps me out of mischief! Stay safe. xx Jo #9

Hi Heather - thanks so much for your visit! You're certainly a LOT better organised than I am. Organisation is not my strong point - unless I'm at work. I tend to have my stamps and dies all over the place - lucky the thinlits come in their own little plastic pockets - I try to keep them in there - but even they get misplaced sometimes LOL. I hope your daughter's wedding can go ahead as planned. Loving the invitations you're working on - making them by hand gives them a nice personal touch. I muddled up the days as well last week! Back on track now. Keep well and safe. xx zsuzsa #20
