WOYWW 570

Happy Wednesday to the world.  Ok, I know the whole world does not read this blog, so happy Wednesday to my fellow WOYWW deskers.

No work for me this week, I would say a week of rest and relaxation, but I spent the day yesterday clearing out the summerhouse, cleaning it, and started painting it.  The painting will continue each day, weather permitting, until I have finished it.  I shall do as much or as little as I please - no rush, we do not have any visitors planned.  In between painting, I shall endeavour to do some crafting.

Main desk has a clue as to what I am currently working on - although the format is still a rough idea in my head.

My family tree, although with my parents, aunties, uncles, and grandparents all long since passed away, there is no one left to interrogate, apart from a few cousins that I haven't seen in decades.  My father was born in Cardiff, so I'll start the search there.  On the right is a birthday card I made with a Gorjuss stamp.  I'm with Shaz (Silverwolf) on these stamps - love them!  I stencilled  (woohoo I felt like a proper crafter) a background, stamped and fussy cut the girl, and used a punch to cut the balloons, and stamped a sentiment - I should have embossed it, as it doesn't stand out too well, but the recipient won't mind, I'm sure.

My second desk has some scrapbooking sentiments and paper, and another Gorjuss coloured image, with a background paper I found  in my stash, I will make that into another card.  There are also albums full of photographs to go through.  Apologies for the darkness of the photos, my craft room does not get the sun until mid afternoon.

Have a lovely week and stay safe and well, Heather xx

Morning Heather. Be warned - Family history research should carry a government health warning! It's addictive!!! But enjoy it anyway. I spent hours, weeks, months and years on ours some time back - it was worth it as we got back to 1500s in one family and 1600s in another branch - but my goodness... what a lot of time and fascinating hunts were involved.
Great card - and whatever do you mean? "Felt" like a real crafter ?? You ARE a real crafter - no question!
Take care of yourselves. Stay safe. God bless.

Oooh, enjoy the family history research - it's the perfect time to do it eh? My brother and cousin are the historians in our family, but with a name like Williams, it's tough in Wales! My 3xGreat Grandmother lived to 108 though, so there's hope for me, lol!! Lovely cards and stencilling to boot, woohoo!

Hi Heather, great job on the card, laughing at your comment about stencilling. Love the colouring on your images. Family Trees must indeed get harder to compile as people age and pass on. Not ever contemplated doing ours- way too many relatives on both sides, lol. Have a lovely week, Stay safe, Hugs, Shaz #8 X

Good luck with the genealogy - how interesting for you to be doing just that. My cousin in Oz did it at one time, not sure if she still does. Had us driving her all over the place when she came over to visit.
I love your Gorjuss card - the lilac one looks ever so nice - how lucky to have that paper for the background. I can just see the brown girl (in the wind, la la la la la) sorry! It looks gorjuss too.
Have a good week painting and doing just as you want.
Hugs, Neet 4 xx

Enjoy your week away from home working Heather. I really should work on painting the outside of my shed. It's not as if I don't have the paint it's just that I prefer working inside it lol. Cool card with the stencilling and stamping. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #5

Well that's an exciting project but just hope you don't get too carried away! My sister is doing ours she has boxes and boxes of index cards - nothing to show us in any comprehensible format yet though and she's been doing it for 5 years!! Keeps her busy I guess. ! Happy WOYWW, stay safe, stay well, Cindy #18

I love collecting relations, I am amazed how names, hobbies, professions etc. recur through the generations.
Enjoy, although it is very addictive so be warned.

I'm sure the family tree will keep you very busy Heather. My Husbands Canadian Aunt is trying to retrace there's but has many areas she can not fill but she does keep us updated when anything new unfolds.
Enjoy your week at home & painting when ever you choose, I believe the weather is changing next week one weather man mentioned snow.. eeekkkk!!

Have fun and good luck with your family tree. Gran (my Mum's mum) gave me loads of details from her side of the family going back about four generations, but we don't know anything from Grandad's side. Dad's side of the family is fairly well established and easy to track down. Happy WOYWW! Stay safe and take care, with love and God Bless, Caro xxx (#17)

Hi Heather, I just love those little birds and I did end up hunting down the link to the video of them and ( that was as far as I got ) but, its on the mental wish list of things to try sooner or later. :)
what I found when I tried working on mine was there were a lot of the older members of the family did not want to talk about things often times because, they felt like things that happened to those people were scandals and I let it go because, that was not the yard stick I measure things by. ( children born too soon after a wedding date type things) so hopefully you will find some things about your family fairly easily. ~Stacy #27

Hi Heather, you ARE a proper crafter lol! Love the stencilling. I hope your family tree research goes well. Mum spent years doing hers and all the info, including the finished tree which I assembled for her, has now gone to my cousin because he is also interested in doing it. I helped Mum quite a bit and we went on some "field trips" together but I never got the bug like she did. We found some of the lovely houses our ancestors had lived in, and found their graves in the churchyard and that was really interesting.

Thank you for your visit. I'm glad you enjoyed seeing my desk, and that you liked my Florabundas! Yes, I made the envelopes with my envelope punch board (a brilliant tool - I used to really struggle with the envelope thingy I had before) and I found a good YouTube video about how to use it to make the liners too. I think it gives a nice finishing touch to have matching envelopes. Our herb garden gets the sun up until lunch time but it's shady after the sun moves round. Also, the rockery on the other side of the little patio is quite high, with the garage at the top and that blocks quite a bit of light, but the herbs seem to do fine! I hope to do some blogging about my seed sprouting and microgreens. How exciting, getting the potting shed! People's gardens are going to look so fantastic after all this lockdown! I hope you will post some photos when it arrives.

Happy WOYWW,

Sorry for the late visit I don't know where the days go to. Thanks for your visit. Started researching my family tree a few weeks ago, but after spending so much time on the computer had to be strict with myself and curtail the hours. It becomes addictive. Which site are you using I tried My Heritage. Have a good week and stay safe. Ani #11

Hi Heather. I'm so sorry for being late getting round this week. The lovely weather distracted me. I hope it made it's away across the Pennines to you and you got your summerhouse painted. I bet it looks beautiful. You'll have to paint your new potting shed the same. I need a good clear out in the greenhouse. I'm struggling round bits of worktop and stuff from our new kitchen refit last summer. Not having a garage things get stored all over.
Good Luck with your family research. You'll be hooked, it's a fascinating thing to do, there is so much info available online these days.
I hope you are having a good week
Take Care
