WOYWW 542

So much for my good intentions of posting every week!  Whizz day again and time for WOYWW courtesy of Julia and The Stamping Ground

This week has seen the return of Heather "The Wanabee Quilting Queen" as I realised we are hurtling towards Christmas and I have not even started on the 2 quilts I should have made for my grandsons last Christmas!  Oh dear ... how bad am I?  So, I've decided I will be a crafting goddess over the next 8 weeks and get the quilts made, christmas cards made (for myself and my willing victims customers at work), delve into the world of candle making since I got a candlemaking kit for my birthday yesterday- still downstairs as I'm reading through the instructions, but will no doubt be somewhere in my craft room next week.  Oh, and I decided it's high time I made my own Christmas cake.  I used to make them with my mother when I was a girl - but have never made one in the 31 years since she passed away, so now is a good time to start.  If anyone has a well loved recipe then I'm open to offers 😉.

My desk shows the start of George's quilt.  I'm hoping to report significant progress next week, but we do have my granddaughter for a sleepover on Saturday, so craft room will become guest room again.

Please leave a comment so I know you stopped by.  I'll be visiting this evening and maybe lunchtime tomorrow if I don't get round everyone.  Have a lovely  week, Heather xx

What a lovely view from your room, Heather! If you haven't told anyone you're working on the quilts, you have all the time you need, which is why I never commit myself to deadlines if I can help it LOL. Of course, some people need the deadlines to get their behinds into gear, but I just find them so stressful. Have fun with your young visitor on Saturday! zsuzsa #16

Lovely to sit and look out of that window! hope you find a good cake recipe - my mum always used to make a fabulous cake with her mother's recipe but I've not made one myself - it would take me too long to eat it all by myself! Helen #1

It sounds like you plan to be very busy with all those jobs to do. I enjoy all the light in the conservatory but yes can't leave anything for too long or they fade in the sunlight. Good luck in getting everything done. Wishing you a very happy though rather late woyww, Angela x13x

I was only thinking in bed last night that you hadn't been posting and I must write and see if things were ok with you. On checking I see I missed you one week and you missed last week so panic was over.
Good luck with the quilts, the cake, the cards and everything else.
I think you are very brave tackling quilt making - I am toying with simply cutting a throw down in size and hemming it - can't remember even how to thread this new machine of mine (which isn't new by now but is much unused. Can see mum's old Singer coming out as i can handle that beauty.
have a good week
Hugs, Neet xxx

Good luck with the quilting Heather. I haven't made a Christmas cake, although I made fruit cakes and decorated them with marzipan and royal icing for all three of our son's baptisms. (The youngest was 20 last weekend lol). Happy belated birthday. Happy WOYWW. Sarah #2

Hi Heather, I too spent some time candle making, it's quite an absorbing hobby. Good luck with the quilts. I usually make our Christmas cake, but won't be happening this year. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #5 X

Sorry Im late! For a procrastinator like me, thats a hell of a target list for the next couple months. I will lend you my crown for the day when you’ve managed it all! Wow. I use Mary Berry’s Classic Christmas Cake recipe, hasn’t failed me in 20 odd years, nowadays I dont even get my printed copy out, I just google it and take my iPad to the kitchen!! You’re right, its time you made one. I’m doing the whole Christmas dinner thing for the first time in my life this year, so if I have to do something new, it’s only fair that you should too!!
