WOYWW 484

Good morning everyone, time for a weekly desk hop courtesy of the lovely Julia and The Stamping Ground.  But before I show and tell, I have to say what a wonderful time I had at the Crop!  I don't know any local crafters so it was marvellous to spend a day with like minded folk who were all absolutely lovely.  And Shaz from Oz - what a wonderful surprise!  Do we really have to wait a year for the next Crop??  😁😁

My first crop - first of many I hope!  ATCs were exchanged, and some gifts.

Lots of coffee, cake and chat.  A delicious lunch, lots of coffee, cake and chat.  Oh, and a bit of crafting!  I practised colouring with promarkers.  I need to improve my 'blending' skills.  6 hours at the Crop and I managed to colour 3 flowers and then messed up with the 3D pearl drops to decorate it.  However I managed a rescue job when I got home.  And this will be a birthday card for my daughter's 30th birthday, complete with a couple of spare flowers for the envelope.

I was inspired by the Crop to carry on with more practise at the colouring/blending, and triple layer cards.  Four butterflies on each card, each one blended differently. And a couple of snowmen in the background!

And a close up of one of the butterfly cards

Next up, I have a set of flowers stamps and matching dies, so as I need a lot more practice - more colouring!  I will need more pens at this rate!  And a piece of stamping card that I threw some colour on.  Not sure what I will do with that yet.  Watch this space!  Lurking by my glue basket is a pink flamingo sellotape dispenser - Thank you Julia!

I need to make 2 sympathy cards this week, as my lovely cousin passed away yesterday.  He has been more like a brother to me than a cousin, and I will miss him so much, but he had been very ill for over a year, so I am thankful he is now at peace.  I have not made sympathy cards before, so haven't a clue where I will start - maybe with Pinterest or other blogs!

I've also been inspired by Jan, Annie and Jo ... and have an idea lurking in my head for Christmas presents for my grandchildren!  All will be revealed soon - but I can say it involves a sewing machine - which I don't have, but I can borrow!  That's all for this week - I'll do my visiting when I get home from work.  After I've had my first hour in the gym - if Mr M advises it is ready for action!  Have a lovely week Heather xx

WOW, this is amazing. You color beautifully. I've never owned any of those pens, so I was really impressed with your skills.

You got some wonderful ATCs and other gifts. Thanks for sharing photos from your first crop. Happy WOYWW from #3.

Wish I was there to meet you Heather, but there will be a next time! am delighted that the Crop has done to you what it does for me....encouraged and inspired. Those butterflies look marvellous, and I can’t see any thing that might have needed recovery on the card for your daughter!

I really enjoyed meeting you in person and am so glad that you enjoyed the Crop! I'm also pleased that you did very little crafting, like the rest of us, lol :-). Your daughter's card is lovely, I don't think it needs rescuing at all. So sorry to hear about your cousin, even though it was obviously a blessed release, it still doesn't stop it from being terribly sad. Sending you hugs.

So sorry you had that news on your return from a lovely day - still as you say it was a release from a year of suffering. God Bless him, and you, it must hurt as you were so close.
It was lovely to sit with you although I did flit about a bit but that is me. A friend once referred to me as 'an elusive butterfly' not sure what that meant then but I am a bit of a flitterer about. Just love being with people.
Your card is beautiful, as are the other ones you have been making and the colouring on the butterflies is excellent. I love my Promarkers but I must confess I don't blend, never the time, but you carry on and maybe next year at the crop you can teach me.
Hugs & Thanks for being my buddy at the crop, Neeet 8
(ps I too want to have another crop - or maybe make the annual one over two days - tee hee) xx

Hi Heather, it was lovely to meet you for the first time! You'll see on my blog I'm always saying my colouring skills are poor and I need to practice more, especially with Promarkers. I think they need more really pale colours to help with the blending, but I did discover that if you look at the Flexmarkers, they have many more really pale colours in them, so I've been adding some of those to the collection. Cowling & Wilcox have the best prices on all Promarkers, if you don't buy from them already. Ooh, I LOVE those triple stamped cards! So elegant, another idea I have to try to remember, lol. I think I have that snowman stamp, or one almost identical. For sympathy cards, go really simple, I always find works best. In fact, the triple stamped butterfly would be perfect, in muted colours.Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #8 X

The butterfly cards are beautiful - it's such an effective technique. I love the photo of all of you, it looks like a great time was had by all! So sorry to hear about your loss, I have to agree with Sarah about keeping sympathy cards very simple - I like to stick to mainly black, white and grey as a colour palette.

So sorry to hear about your Cousin passing away Heather, my thoughts are with you. I always head for a Dandelion puffball stamp I have or use one of my many Poppy stamps to me they both symbolise a lasting memory.
So glad you managed to make the crop and have a wonderful time. Hope to meet you one day along with everyone else.

It was lovely to meet you Heather - and that card is as beautiful as I thought it would be - I just don't know how you paper crafters have the patience! Now, if you do start to sew - you know who to ask if you have any queries don't you!! I can't imagine life without my machine and cupboards full of fabric. I am happy to help if you need it. x Jo

I love the photo with all the croppers - just wish it were labelled for future reference! Your cards are lovely. I would think any of those butterfly cards would do as a Sympathy Card (so sorry for your loss), just a "thinking of you" on the label, then hand written on the inside. Have fun sewing - I also have been thinking along those lines for Christmas! Have a great week, and thanks for your visit! Lindart #23

Hi Heather, I love the happy group mug shot you shared and the butterfly cards look fabulous. ( and of course I giggled over the need for more pens...there is always room for more color haha) ~Stacy #24

Hi Heather. I am REALLY late getting around this week - been so busy hosting Shaz in Oz - but she is now safely tucked up with a friend in America, so I can begin to think...
It was so good to meet you last week - glad you were brave enough to come. That card is lovely, well rescued - and the triple stamped ones are great. Well done.
Take care. God bless.
