WOYWW 428

Hello all

Wednesday again?  I enjoyed my first WOYWW last week.  On my desk today I have the start of four cards that are pretty much the same - apart from the colour of the backing paper and the sentiment.  I need 4 male cards over the next couple of weeks - two birthday, one retirement and one good luck card.  As the men don't know each other, I thought might as well batch make some!  I had a nice sheet of French map paper that I wanted to use, so sat about waiting for inspiration!  I tried circular cut outs for the ship (can see them top above the cards), but although I had a nice circle die to cut the ship, the backing circle was hand cut and looked a bit rough.  I have amassed quite a few dies in the past 21 months - but nesting dies are very few and far between!  Square shapes I don't need dies for 😊  The stamps on the shelf are from my grandsons visiting at weekend.  They wanted to make cards for mummy and daddy.

I do have quite a bit of storage space - it's desk space I am short of - hence the propped up keyboard!  On my journeys around your desks, I see most people have a separate desk/table for crafting, away from the PC.  I have the perfect table in another room - it tilts up for when I am doing a jigsaw, or in a colouring/painting mood ... only problem is I'm not sure I could fit it in this room.  So my craft supplies are in one room and my perfect table in another.  Hmm - thinking cap on - I need to come up with a solution!

How many attempts did it take you lovely crafters to get your ideal craft room?  Or are you still working on it like me?

I'll start my tour after lunch.  Thanks for stopping by.
Heather x

That's just dangerous Heather...moving one piece of furniture to benefit your raft space might precipitate the biggest change around since you moved in!! I like the batch making idea for various occasions..and you'd have needed a mighty big circle die to cut out that ship shape!

Hi Heather, love the cards. Great when you can do a small batch like that. I was lucky with my craft room- I used to use the other bedroom for my craft room, and my youngest son had this room. When he moved out, we decided to make this my craft room, so I could paint it as I wanted, and got some IKEA storage & desks for it, so I got it how I wanted, then it was just a case of moving stuff in. That took longer than the decorating, lol.But I did have a good sort out as well. Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #4 XxX

I like where those cards are going; a very versatile image. I just amassed so much stuff that my husband and sons built my craft shed for me; it is wired in with sockets and lighting but runs off a 13amp plug in the garage. I can't have the heater and the kettle on when the tumble dryer is on in the garage, but no problem otherwise. Happy WOYWW Sarah #25

Hi Heather. I was away last week - so this is my first visit to your blog. I've had a real nosy round - looked at the other page too. I love your cards - they are great. Your room is amazing. The perfect craft room??? Well, let's see - I'm very content with my space - it's the first time in my life I have been able to leave things out because I'm not using the dining table!! I'm on the landing of our bungalow-with-an-upstairs! Have recently had a real sort out, labelling time, etc. Still lose things, though. Trouble is, I get things straight.... then I set to and have a card making marathon, or whatever, and suddenly I can't find things again! Hey ho! Such is life.
Take care and welcome to WOYWW. God bless.

I batch make quite often - those cards are great for blokes and they won't know will they?! Lol. That table sounds perfect for what you want, I think you have to have a play moving some furniture around to get it in somehow :-D. Good Luck!

I adore that image beautiful cards... I have a spare bedroom as my crafty hide out... I changed it again last year as I was moving away from paper-crafting and more towards fabric... and needed a spot for my sewing machine... Getting there so far so good it's just what works for the crafty individual ... Have fun re-arranging... May #17

Hi Heather, Fab cards, just right for men.

I have my PC monitor on my desk. My desktop tower is usually on the floor by the desk. Having to use a lappy at the moment, as my hard drive died. Should get it back next week as good as new.

Hope you can get the table into your craft room.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Happy WOYWW

Those cards are stunning Heather and nobody will tell you off for batch making them LOL! I have my craft supplies all over the house in different rooms - some even under the bed! My craft table is our dining room table, so you're way ahead of me just by having a dedicated craft area, however small. Thanks for visiting earlier! Hope you have a good week! zsuzsa #29

We moved in about two and half years ago. Mr M got the smallest bedroom as his office, and the middle bedroom was the guest room ... which then doubled up as my craft room when I started crafting. It's been re arranged 3 times so far! I read your blog about your room, loved the photos xx

I'm holding fire with moving the table for now ... but you never know! Watch this space x

I did have a summer house built this year, but I'm trying to keep it a craft free zone, apart from a mobile easel for colouring/painting, as it is a space for me and Mr M on a summer evening, with a glass of wine and chillaxing!

Your desks are some of my favourites. What a beautiful space for crafting. Thank you for the kind welcome and the lovely comments.

If I do ask Mr M to move my craft room round again I'm sure he'll threaten to divorce me. And we only got married in April lol.

Thanks May. I've always loved rearranging rooms ... but I don't think Mr M shares that passion. I'll draw up a plan and leave it on the dining table, see if he mentions it.

Thanks Sue. Men are the ones I finding most difficult to make cards for. I just knew the map paper would be ideal.

I totally agree. And with so many males in my family I need to have plenty of ideas.

Thanks Carol. Yes,I'm beginning to see I do need to separate the areas or continue to clean up after every crafting session. Thanks for your lovely comment on my cards ... I love the ship too! Thanks for stopping by.

Lovely cards - when you come up with a design you like I think it's always a good idea to make a few of them. My craft room was designed and built when we extended our house a few years ago - however the lovely built in cupboards are now overflowing!! - I think we need another extension!!

Love the ships and the cards. I am still working on creating the perfect crafting space. I think that is part of the fun - constantly changing my room. :-) April #23

How many days are there in a month - and I don't even think that comes close to how many times we crafters change our rooms. Mine has to be emptied again to allow for the new floor to be laid. Not looking forward to it at all - thankfully the fitter got married so we had to wait a month for him to be able to do it - must be getting close.
Lovely cards, the ships are perfect against that paper. Why not batch make - good idea!
Hugs & Thanks for visiting me earlier - Neet 13 xx

Heather thank you so much for visiting my blog yesterday! I LOVE your cards! Making a "batch" is a great idea and makes for quick crafting especially if you procrastinate about birthdays like I do! LOL My craft room is in my closet! Yep, I have a walk-in closet and one end of the closet is dedicated to my crafting. I have shelving in there for all my goodies along with several storage cabinets and then my husband built me a craft table on hinges that lets up to the wall when not in use for more closet room...I never let it up though because I have so much craft stuff on my desk and where would I put it???? LOL One day I want to get a proper craft room, but who knows when that will be! Thanks again for stopping by and have a great weekend! :) Felicia #32

Welcome Heather! I used to participate in WOYWW years ago and missed it so I am just returning. It's so much fun to connect with crafters all around the world. I make cards too and masculine cards often present a challenge. I love what you did with that gorgeous ship. The inking is lovely and adds to the theme.
As for desks and creative spaces. I started with a really small computer table in corner of our home and now I have a large table from IKEA with my computer on one end and plenty of room to craft. However, I tend to stack piles of things on my desk so my actually craft space often is crowded out to a much smaller place. The evolution of my space has been fun to watch. Keeping it tidy is the difficult part. I hate cleaning up at the end of the day so I have to push myself. Thank you for visiting my blog yesterday and I can't wait to see what you create next!

Hi Heather, those ship cards are beautiful! I don't think craft rooms ever stop evolving - or growing. If I had my way, the sitting-room would turn into my craft room and the little box room would become the sitting room ... but I don't think I can persuade my DH that it would be a good idea :o) Annie C #22

Super men's cards, men's cards can be so difficult sometimes but you have a great stamp there and I love the variations. I have just acquired a PC on my craft desk and had to move quite a bit of stuff to accommodate it. Fortunately my keyboard is small and wireless but it does get covered in stuff as I craft - LOL. Your keyboard propping reminds me of when my son was small and we had 2 computers on the desk where we changed him so those keyboards got put on top of the then much deeper monitors! Those were the days. Anyway I seem to manage with my corner in my bedroom for crafting and the bed does come in handy for stuff as well. Thanks for the visit sorry I am so late replying, got my son's A-level results Thursday and lots of stuff has happened since then too BJ#19
