WOYWW 606

Good morning all - Wednesday again, which means it's time to meander over to The Stamping Ground and have a good old fashioned snoop around lots of interesting desks.

I've managed to avoid tidying my desks thus far this year, which is most unlike me.  Instead I have been concentrating my efforts on keeping my journal entries completed each day.  I like the way it is going, although my good intentions of preparing backgrounds did not last beyond the 9th of January!  That does mean I can do whatever I want each day though, so I'm fine with it.  Below is my side desk, followed by the evidence that I have kept up to date with the journal.  The Janet Klein stamps I bought are in the middle waiting to be used.  This week's allocation of magazines to go through, extract, and recycle, and various things used in completing my journal entries.

My other progress is on the Jan Blan.  Almost another full set of colours completed, just the purple rows to do  Looking at it, I think there will possibly be 5 sets of colours repeated in total before it is the size I want it to be.  See last week's post if you want to know why it's called the Jan Blan! Lol.  It's too big for my desk now, so resides in the lounge (which is where I do most of my crocheting).  On the sofa is the bag one of my daughters bought me for Christmas, ever so handy.

A quiet week for me since last week.  My family calendars arrived, and have been posted to my girls.  Oh, and look at this .... my daughter gave me a lovely rose gold compact on her wedding day in October.  Doh, I never turned it over and saw what she had printed on the reverse.  I nearly broke down in tears, I was quite emotional!  How lovely.

This week's crafting for me is going to be Scan n Cut related, as there was a free set of tutorials on offer from Gentleman Crafter, so I enrolled on those!

Have a lovely week, Heather xx

Lolol, I am honoured but the crochet compliment! And have to say that yours in much much neater than mine, I must have a looser tension - I like the two rows of each colour too, it gives it a newer look somehow. Isn’t it a fab way of using up smaller amounts of yarn though? I have got another blanket on the go, granny squares this time, again to use up adds and sods of yarn. Love the journal pages, you are good to keep it up, that’s something I’m really bad at - you know, start off with great enthusiasm but it peters out quite quickly!
And the compact your daughter gave you is gorgeous and the inscription on the back is wonderful I’d have cried too. Just as well you didn’t see it on the day, your mascara wouldn’t have stood a chance!

Oh Heather, I spotted the quote on your journal page before I really looked at the others, no wonder it made you cry! It’s gorgeous and on the back of a lovely gift. Love that you’ve only just seen it, that’s makes it a double wonderful! Your pages are great, I do admire you for sticking to it, my desk would be even more untidy if I was inking and lettering and cutting and sticking a bit every day, it’s the perfect excuse for me to never tidy! The Jan Blan is really fab, and if you’re working on it from your armchair, hey, it’s already keeping you warm. Double win!

Totally tempted by the Scan&Cut, but for the moment I am torn between that (when my ancient Cricut is working fine for now) and a laser printer. Both will take up a lot of room so it has to be one or the other. I hate decisions!

Such a lovely quote and so touching. Did you call her when you finally saw it? I bet she laughed at how long it took for you to discover it. And I am enjoying the blanket progress - it is going to be a stunner when done - or is that stunna' ?
:)

Happy WOYWW, with a late start

Hi Heather. Great Jan Blan! Looking good. The pages are a good reflection of your days. I wish you well in keeping up! The compact was a beautiful gift - and to see the inscription on the back is just so very lovely. Well done MUM! Thanks for your visit - the reason I was MIA was because one of my grandies had a potentially life changing hospital appointment - but so far, so good!
Take care of yourself. God bless.

Hi Heather, I enrolled the Scan NCut lessons we could compare notes :). I love your journal pages, do you have a stack of quotes at hand? That was a beautiful present from your daughter, the words are lovely. Apparently we have cold weather on the way so you will need your warm blanket. Have a great week Angela #10

Need to link you up with my bff - she is a whizz on Scan n Cut. Mind you her son is a whiizz on computers so anything she gets stuck on he sorts her out but she is learning an awful lot.
Love the Jan Blan - definitely moving on - so big and so quickly got to that size.
Now don't be making me emerald green with envy that your beloved is sorting your craft room out for you - I am limping along (reference to bad back) with mine on my own. Now I see the mistakes I have made and sadly the money wasted in storage that is no longer really of use. How do I tell my other half I want to throw those big cupboards out?
Hugs, Neet 17 xx
ps stay safe and well and I am free any time

Your pages are all gorgeous, Heather, and the Jan Blan is coming along a treat, isn't it! Not surprised my jumper reminded you of it - you are clearly in rainbow mode at the moment! Your daughter's gift is really beautiful and what lovely words, too.

Thank you for your visit. I think you are right about companies often not using thick enough boxes. I always buy yarn in bulk if I can, so I have lots in my stash, and recently I seem to have run out of blacks and greys - I turned the place upside down trying to find a cream coloured cone I thought I had, and now I've bought another, I expect it will turn up!! I am thrilled with the new blender, and the only loose end now is the company that supplied the original one - they are terribly slow. I am hoping they will either replace it or refund me for it.

The yeast in the soup is nutritional yeast - this isn't the same as what you'd use to make bread. It is in the form of small flakes and it imparts a lovely cheesy flavour in vegan foods as well as being rich in nutrients including Vitamin B12. I use it a lot. It would be good if your hubby got going on the bread maker as well as the soup maker! I love the bread out of my bread maker.

Thank you for your good wishes for my hospital situation. It really is very frustrating because nobody is doing anything, and if they hadn't messed me about so much before, all this could have been over and done with before Covid struck, and now of course they are using that as an excuse.

Happy WOYWW,

Your journal pages are fab and well done sticking at it each day. The blanket is lovely and that bag is a great gift and so useful - I definitely need to look for a new one that has a lid that closes to hid all the muddle! What a special gift your daughter gave you - no wonder you got emotional.
I hope you have a good week, stay safe and well,
