WOYWW 613

I have come to the conclusion time goes faster the older you get, so I am officially going to change my age!  Wednesday again, so time to share our desks with our head desker Julia - pop over to The Stamping Ground if you want to join in with WOYWW

My desk this week still has not seen much crafting action, as I took full advantage of the nice weather at weekend, and spent most of the time in my garden, tidying, pruning, jet washing, and getting my veggie patch ready for planting.  I share seeds with my daughters, and it's my job to split the packets and distribute - hence the little packets on the front of the desk.  There is a yellow baby blanket (first one finished), a partially done mint baby blanket, a postcard with a piece of the Berlin Wall - that was in a box I have emptied out, half a blue roll, lettering practice book, and the pile of magazines centre back - they are reducing slowly!

I had my first Covid vaccination last week - thankfully no side effects!  I'm keeping fingers crossed that all goes well with vaccinating the country and we can return to some sort of normality.  No signs of going back to the office yet - which suits me fine, although I do need to get a new chair for my office/craft room as my current one is not at all comfy!  I have quite a few cards to make for males in the next few weeks, so I'll be scouring everyone's blogs and Pinterest for inspiration - as those are the ones I struggle with the most!   So ... I may actually have some proper crafting to share next week!

Have a lovely week, take care Heather xx

So many people said they were getting their gardens ready - my gardening only extended to a bit of watering in my potting shed - now I feel like I missed out as winter seems to have returned! I can't wait to get my Covid jab, so we can stop stressing about this virus - any day now, I expect. Mind you, I'm quite happy working from home too as long as necessary - I'm hoping we can stay working from home at least part of the time. I'm less stressed and more productive! Happy Wednesday! xx zsuzsa #22

Yes so many of us took advantage of the garden and wee bit of warm weather, mine doesn't take much sorting but i'm working on introducing a little bit more to it this year. Yes you must treat yourself to a new chair, funny enough we brought our Son one for his Birthday last week, he's been working from home for over a year and been using an old kitchen chair. Save your back and treat yourself.. Glad you've had the first vaccine, here's hoping the second is not far behind.
Take care & Happy WoywW Tracey #14 xx

Hooray for having the jab! I haven’t heard yet but hope it won’t be too far away. Love the pile on the desk, a sign of a well spent week! I was tidying up outside as well, getting ready to start sowing seeds soon. I must check what I’ve got from last year first though. Glad you’re ok and keeping well!

I'm trying to find a vaccine centre that doesn't involve hours of trekking across London to reach - not having a car isn't always helpful! glad you had your first jab though. sharing seeds is a great idea; happy sorting!! Helen #5

I think you are right, time does go faster the older you are. I cannot believe how the years just race by! It always seems to be male cards that are a problem. Hope you find your inspiration. Have a great week Angela #17

It's been a blessing to get out in the garden though it's gone cold here again today. Pleased to hear you've had your first Vaccination and no side effects, I just had a bit of a headache but that could have been anything really. Oh my! Male cards are not easy but guess it helps if you know the person that you're making it for. Wishing you a very creative week and a happy woyww, Angela x19x

I'm so glad we all made the most of last weekend - I've just seen the cold forecast for this weekend! I'm sure magazines multiply. I'm trying to go through mine too but I don't seem to be getting anywhere! Stay safe and keep smiling, Lisa-Jane #7

Oh my goodness, I’m not surprised that you’re in charge of seeds....how tidy and organised a way to share is that!! The yellow baby blanket is gorgeous, I can feel the softness from here. OOh Mrs, don’t put off getting a new chair, as soon as you realise the existing one is uncomfortable it affects everything, and having to work from home as well, yow. Good luck with the male cards. I tell myself I’m building it all up in my mind and they are no more difficult than any other...and then can’t do a thing.

I love the idea of a family sharing seeds, Heather. I hope you all end up with great gardens as a result! Our spring flowers are now really coming out which always delights me each year. We don't grow any veggies - we just have our extremely productive little apple tree (delicious apples) and rhubarb which I hope will do better this year than last. Lovely blankets on your desk!

Thank you for your visit and for all your kind remarks. Very amusing to hear about your hubby, especially you making his birthday card right in front of him and him not noticing!! I think their minds are on "higher" things...?

Blocking is something one should really do for all knitting and crochet projects. It is partly to get things the right size, you are correct - but also when you first make things, they tend to be a bit lumpy and curled at the edges, and pinning them out to size and dampening them with a water spray and letting them dry like that, sets the stitches in place and evens everything out. You get a much better finish that way, and it makes the making up process of garments that much easier too. The blocking mats are probably made of the same sort of dense foam that you were describing of the children's blocks. Pins do leave holes, and I suppose eventually they will wear out. I wish I'd bought blocking mats years ago - they really have helped the process.

I really hope you manage to get your Fjords cruise and that you enjoy it. Unfortunately ours was cut short due to a very bad storm and we ended up in Sweden! That was fun, though, so we didn't mind. It was many years ago now. If you look after those jumpers, they last for years.

There's nothing I can do on the hospital front except wait. It can be frustrating at times but I try to tell myself that stressing out over it isn't going to change anything and will only hurt myself! At least I've got some sort of an answer now, although I can't imagine why someone couldn't have told me that ages ago.

Happy belated WOYWW,

Glad to hear you've had your first jab. I have already started some seeds but nothing happening yet - I started so late last year some stuff didn't go into the garden till the Autumn!! I am very impatient with seeds though. Love the mint blanket, such a pretty colour. I think quite a few of us were taking advantage of the fine days but its got too chilly for me just lately!! Happy belated WOYWW - I have stopped trying to get round in one day, it doesn't work for me right now. But no rules eh? Have a good week, stay well, stay safe, Cindy #18 xx
