WOYWW 440

Good morning fellow WOYWW deskers.  Time to show off my desk and my very productive weekend ... but first, an explanation on my northern lights picture of last week.  I did like my end result (it was better than I anticipated it would be) but ... it was produced from a kit I bought from Inkylicious, and there was a picture on the box as an example.  My disappointment was that my picture (exhibit A below) looked nothing like the picture on the box (exhibit B below).
Exhibit A
Exhibit B

Clearly more practice is needed with the ink Dusters!  My new brayer was not used, and still hasn't been used.

Now on to my desk this week.  Christmas cards ideas were top of the agenda this weekend.  My plan was to play around and create a few cards, and then make a batch of each one during the next couple of weeks.  I managed 4 before my inspiration was all used up.  But .... I have jotted down a couple of ideas, so all is good.  My desk has the various bits and pieces I used, and a few things that were cast aside but not yet put away.  I also received some stencils I had ordered from China. Not tried them out yet but at 99p each I can't grumble.  They are on the left of the desk.
And a close up of the cards

I'm looking forward to my tour of your desks.  Please leave a comment so j know you stopped by.  I love reading them. Take care, Heather xx

your Northern Lights card is gorgeous - love it! Like you I am finally onto Christmas cards. I am trying to keep mine simple as always a) for speed and b) for flat packing in the post!! Helen #1

Well, I don't think your Northern Lights suffers by comparison, I really like it - in fact, I prefer the slightly more muted tones to the one on the box! Well done on those cards, my Christmas cards are still packed away after our move last January - goodness knows where they are, lol!!

I think you northern lights piece is lovely even when you compare it to the 'ideal one. Beautiful Christmas cards, lots of effort is clearly put into them. Have a great day.

I beg to disagree Heather! Your version looks a lot like (if not better!) than the sample image. Here's the truth about images: you crank up the contrast a bit and the colours look a lot stronger. I bet that's what they did with the image on the box! Love your Christmas cards too - keep up the good work! zsuzsa #15

I love your version of the Northern light image, it's not so 'digital' and I think Zsuzsa is right: images on packages (and in magazines etc.) are usually worked on - I know 'cause I was a graphic designer. I also love the Christmas cards/ideas you worked on! Happy woyww, big hug from Holland, Marit #19

Hi Heather, I don't think you've done too badly at all, I think the Northern lights cards are definitely not as easy as we expect, at least I found that to be the case.I bought their bauble kit on Saturday, and fully expect my attempts to look nothing like theirs! I've included my die storage in my blog post for you :) Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #10 XxX

Hi Heather. Your Northern Lights picture is great. Well done for even attempting the technique. Your Christmas cards definitely look good, too. Hope the batch make goes well. I have discovered this year I am absolutely hopeless at batch making! Oh well...
Take care. God bless.

Heather, I like your version of the Northern Lights just as much as the original. Good idea to get some ideas for cards and then batch make one design at a time. The ones you have done so far are great. Happy WOYWW Sarah #27

It is your interpretation of the northern lights and doesn't have to be like the box, love your other cards also. Anickoana

Well I like your Northern lights one better than the original, the colours are softer, but also I like the idea of producing something that has your character in it so it's not an exact copy. The cards are gorgeous and I love the Poinsettia wreath.
Hope you have a great week, so sorry I'm late getting round,

Lovely Christmas cards! I still haven't started mine, I keep getting waylaid! I think your version of the Northern Lights is lovely, and practice will definitely help you to get better - maybe even better than the original!

Fabulous cards, Heather, and I absolutely love your Northern Lights effort! I think you've done a splendid job with the ink dusters - I love using them and have had mine for several years.

Thank you for your lovely comment, and sorry to be so long replying. Finding it very hard to keep on top of things these days!

Happy belated WOYWW,
