WOYWW 578

Good morning all,

I had to double check this morning that it was Wednesday - normally I have been preparing my post on a Tuesday evening so I dont miss it ... but ... once again i have lost track of time, but I am determined to take part in WOYWW.  If you want to join in the fun, click the link and pop over to our Head Desker, Julia.

I had an IT breakdown during the week.  The monitor I had hooked up to my work laptop, just packed up completely, so I have had to rethink my work from home set up.  Plus the boys want to come for a sleepover so I have to be able to pack away my side desk, which I couldn't whilst it was my work desk.  I have now hooked my work laptop up to my PC monitor, keyboard and mouse, so I have changed desks.  It means the side one is free for crafting, yay.

Main desk has a few bits of cards I  was playing with last night, just trying out the blending brushes.  They will not be made into cards, I just wanted to see them in action.

Side desk shows a few scrapbooks I have on the go at the moment.  The adventure one is spiral bound .... we dont get on.  It's my fault, there is so much in it, it has bowed slightly, so it will have to go.  I also have some screw post ones, the one under the sheet of alphabet stickers.  These are a little better but don't open flat, as I would like.  I have been looking at some D ring ones, but they all seem rather pricey!  What do all the scrapbookers amongst us prefer?  My morning coffee has also sneaked in on this shot.  I had switched on for work before I realised it was Wednesday ...

Have a lovely week, and I hope you have better weather than we are having at the moment.  I had hoped to show my new potting shed, but it is only half assembled, as the rains came down before Mr M had finished building it!  It then turned into a swimming pool, as the tarpaulin came off, and he hadn't added the windows yet .... maybe next week.

Stay safe and well, Heather xx

OOh a new potting shed. Dont forget the bottle of sherry that goes on the second shelf at the back! Never has anything been so well named huh, the joy of pottering about in the potting shed is a very English thing I think! So impressed that you can sort out your own tech issues. My PC updated and now its not sending messages to the printer. I have tried everything and am seriously peed off about it!! I keep telling myself that I should have blender brushes because I see so many beautiful pieces that are made with them. Then I distract myself and so have never actually got around to owning any. I shall look with interest at your works as you get going. Although I’m not actually sure where I could wedge a collection of brushes......

Lol at Julia's comment - you can keep the sherry ( can't stand the stuff) but gin wouldn't go amiss. I don't have a potting shed/greenhouse anymore and I do miss it. Hope the rain stops enough for Mr M to finish it for you. Hope the tech gremlins go away, I'm impressed with your wizardry, am afraid I go to my tech supervisor to solve my issues..... ;-)

Oooh a potting shed! One of my happy places is plottering in my shed and greenhouse, chatting to my plants etc. The family think I'm mad... they're not wrong! It's a definite YES from me about the D Ring binders. I converted to those over the post bound about 8 years ago and I've never looked back. It does depend on if you scrap or store chronologically though. If you don't mind the pages being out of order then stick with the post bound. Spiral bound never work for me because if you put something, even one piece of paper on every page, it will be too full. You end up removing pages to give you enough room for what's left. The D ring are expensive, and RIDICULOUSLY hard to come by at the moment but Craftelier have some bargains if you are not fussed about colour etc. Hobbycraft used to do some good deals as well but not recently. They do hold a lot more than the post bound albums so they can be more cost effective. But album / page protector cost is why a lot of people are going over to A4. Have a lovely week, Lisa-Jane #15

I do hope the weather improves and you can get your potting shed up and in action.... what fun. Sorry I can't offer any suggestions re D ring binders Vs post bound. Still tend to be a "put it all in a box" kinda gal. Stay safe as you create.

Have I got it right that your potting shed is to be used for chilling in? That is as opposed to being used for potting plants? As what you use it for it must be exciting and I just wish my other half was into doing things like that, a nice summerhouse at the top of the garden. Knowing me it would be a craft room before long though.
Not a clue to help you out with scrapbooking, not my thing but I am sure there must be someone on the group can help.
Went to clinic this morning and the good news (not) is that the pacemaker will be changed this month! Got the collywobbles already - I don't like hospitals, especially when there are viruses about. I have too much imagination!
Good luck with the IT and the Scrapping!

Good luck with the potting shed - doesn't the rain always fall just when you don't want it! As for writing my blog post - I do it whenever I have time and schedule it these days as, I too have trouble knowing what day it is. xx Jo #19

Hello Heather. I think IT problems are abound. Mine is actually the internet access dropping from time to time. Very frustrating but I am taking it in stride. Most times I close my device and grab my book. So there are options. I like the card fronts on the first photo. So lovely. I totally get you about a spiral bound scrapbook. I am using one for my One Little Word scrapbook and thinking that I may need to figure out how to transfer everything to a ring album. Because despite my best efforts it's really bulky. I can't wait to see your potting shed!! OO la la! It's going to be great. See you next week.

Such a shame about the ring bound scrapbook , it looks so inviting. I tend to use the ones with posts but they fill up quickly and as you say are not cheap. crossed fingers that the weather brightens up so hubby can carry on with the potting shed. have a lovely week . soojay#14

Hi Heather. The weather is very unpredictable at the moment but I think this is probably typical English weather. It looks as though you've plenty to keep you occupied. Wishing you a very happy and creative woyww, Angela x20x

Hi Heather, doesn't the weather always seem to change when new rules come into play regarding the lockdown? Hope the rain stops soon so you can get your potting shed up and running (sherry or not.. hee hee!!)
I have an unbelievable amount of journals, with spines, rings, clasps and handmade but what I tend to use most is old books it's a lot cheaper. I'd have a think about what you want to use your journal for because the paper inside can sometimes be a help or hindrance. What ever you choose have fun along the way.. My sister and Mum just got beautiful new loungers to enjoy the Summer Sun in the garden. It has rained ever since!
My current scrap book is ring bound - it currently has about a dozen pages left but is getting so fat it is hard to add to. I had the same problem with my last one - I eventually disposed of that one!
Happy woyww!

Hi Heather!
I am not a scrapbooker so I can't give you advice but I hope you choose what is right for you! I do have a few art journals - one is an old book that has been repurposed and my other is a moleskine!
Have a lovely week and thank you for visiting my blog!
Love and hugs,
Cardarian

Join the club, I am fast losing any ability to know what day of the week it is ! You saying that the shed construction was abandoned due to rain brought back horrible memories of our own shed about 15 years ago - in my wisdom I ordered a metal shed (which came in a million pieces....) on the basis that I wouldn't have to paint it (only thing I would recommend about it) and hubby and I started to erect the frame. Needless to say before we finished the weather took a dramatic turn for the worse and we had to struggle on in the wind and rain because we had to get it at least semi-rigid before abandoning at as the wind was twisting the whole thing out of shape. What a terrible day that was. (shudders at the memory). So I hope yours goes better! (Shed's still up though). Stay Safe, stay well, Cindy #27

Good luck with the completion of the potting shed. In terms of scrapbooks I only have one D-ring one and it seems to slightly warp the pages in it - I do pocket pages so they are slippery and they never lie flat in it so am not keen to be honest. Thanks for sharing. Happy belated WOYWW. Take care and stay safe. With love & God Bless, Caro xxx (#17)

Oooh Heather, a swimming pool in a potting shed! Every girl's dream! I love your test backgrounds and definitely think you should make them into cards. I don't do scrapbooking so don't really know how most people do their binding, but I've made a few albums, and really like the hidden hinge binding system invented by Kathy Orta - lots of tuts online. Sorry to hear you've had tech problems and hope you get everything sorted out again soon.

Thank you for your visit and your sweet comment about my modelling shots! Like you, I also didn't realise the green cardigan was so long - it's been in a box for so many years that I'd really forgotten the details! I smiled at your account of the guard-cat! How sweet is that? I had another very successful phone consultation this afternoon about my bladder and I've blogged about it. She's booking me in for a bladder scan.

Happy belated WOYWW,
