WOYWW 458

Hello fellow deskers.  Wednesday again, so another session of cardiac rehab for me, and a round of desk hopping courtesy of Julia and WOYWW.

I had a lovely time at the Lavinia Stamps workshop at The Craft Range with Amanda Branston. I learnt some useful techniques, and met a lovely group of ladies.  I made 4 cards, but the last one was not finished, and I messed it up when I got home, so here are the 3 I was happy with.

Throughout the day I was tempted to buy a few bits and pieces, namely my first Distress Oxides.  I also invested in a soft brayer, as mine is a hard one, and I could never get it looking right.  Sadly Craft Range was out of stock of the Versafine Clair Nocturne.

My stash for the day

There were some old music sheets on sale with proceeds going to the local hospice. Only 20p each, so I bought a few.  I think I'll use them for crafting rather than singing!

Amanda also shared with us her storage for ink blenders.  She uses laminated sheets with bits of Velcro on them, but as I don't have anywhere near the full set of oxides, I copied the idea but used plastic wallets and acetate sheets.  That way I can add to them, as I buy more.

I'm already looking forward to my next workshop, and I haven't even booked it yet.  I don't even know when/where it will be!!

So, onto my desk picture, the reason we are here!  I carried on with my travel scrapbook this weekend, so there are lots of bits and pieces related to that on my desk.   I can't do much more till I choose what photos I want Mr M to print off.  A job for a lazy Sunday afternoon ...

On my other desk, are the contents of my craft bag from the workshop - things I took and things I bought, together with a pic of the craft bag that Mr M kindly bought me. It's only small, so doesn't hold much - maybe Mr M's way of making sure I don't overspend?  Good job I took a carrier bag with me! Hehe!!  I also made two cards using one of the Lavinia Stamps I have, practising with the new brayer.  Not perfect but I'm sure the more I use it, the better the results will be.

I'll do my desk visiting this evening when I get home from work, and possibly tomorrow.  Please leave a comment, I love to read them! Heather xx

Happy WOYWW. Great stash. I love the Distress Oxides too - only have 2 colours so far, but use them a lot. I ordered a new set of craft storage/bags from Create & Craft (their special this week) and excitedly await its arrival, so I can sort out stuff on my desks and my sewing/knitting stash. Ali x #12

How lovely to go to a Lavinia workshop and your cards are gorgeous. I particularly like the one on the right with the yellow and blue background, that looks really interesting. I had to smile at your foam storage, mine just get chucked in an old biscuit tin!!
Happy WOYWW

Hi Heather, sounds like you had a fab time. Amanda is lovely, met her last year at an Eileen Godwin workshop. Love the projects you made. You got some great buys too. You're right, it is a case of practise with a brayer, and there are many You Tube videos on technique. There is a good one from Barbara Gray ( Clarity) on working with a blending mat & brayer, well worth a watch. Thanks for all the good wishes, Have a lovely week, Hugs, Shaz #3 XxX

Gorgeous cards, Tracey designs such lovely stamps. I would really like to know what you think about the Versafine Clair inks. I've seen them but not got any yet. I know you will love the Oxides and the new Brayer is so different from the hard ones you will be so pleased you bought it. Thanks for the visit to mine, have a lovely woyww and happy crafty week, Angela x9x

Well I think your braver skills look fab, I can’t see what’s imperfect about them! what lovely cards you’ve made, am so pleased that you’re already looking forward to any other workshop, they really are great fun, and in my experience, there’s always at least 1 tip floating around that is a revelation!

beautiful cards! I used to make a lot of fairy and grunge stuff but have gotten into cutesy stuff because of the grand kids. Great idea for storing the oxide pads...I love the travel book. My husband and I took a 14 week tour around the UK and Europe while he talked at conventions I made up scrapbooks with my travel bits. I ended up with 4-3ring binders full of stuff. I called them trash books because I had bits and pieces of everything in them! Thanks for visiting my desk earlier! Have a great weekend...Vickie #34

A lovely post, Heather - lots of interest and colour! Very pretty cards with subtle backgrounds. I love the idea for storing the blending pads - I must definitely think along those lines, for my DIs as well as the DOs. I've got quite a few of the latter now as I stocked up on a few more at the recent craft show. I love, love, love them! Sorry to hear that the cardiac rehab is necessary ubut hope it's doing the trick, and also that you were unable to drive for 6 months. My hubby is certainly happy to be back to normal after 3. Thank you for your visit and your great comment. So glad you liked the flowers. The mystery project is all but finished now and if I hadn't been so tired when I got back today I'd have spent the evening in the studio, but I've got all day tomorrow, and snow permitting we are meeting up with the recipient for lunch on Monday, after which it will be the Big Reveal!

Happy belated WOWW,

Adore all your fairy cards and Ali was sort of right about all the diecutting as I hurt my neck! All cutting done now and neck getting better. Don't worry I wasn't assembling all the wreaths, it's for a Children's craft for Easter at church. Another lady is cutting the paper plates into rings for the base. I am all cut out and not even played with my new alphabet from Julia's sale yet either. Ho Hum. Thanks for the visit BJ#2
